Gary
has had quite a journey with his passion for music. Not only has he
worked as music director,
for Faith Hill, one of country music’s top female artists, but he also
has quite a track record. He’s one of those people who thrive on
the music--loves to listen, write, arrange and talk music.
Gary has enjoyed
34 years in the music industry in Nashville, TN. He came to Nashville
in 1970 from Laurel, MD, where he started his career playing with a family band for 18 years traveling throughout the U.S. His next venture was performing
with Lorrie Morgan. In 1986, he joined Randy Travis’ team of musicians,
playing steel guitar and dobro, as well being music director.
As if that weren’t enough, he also took part in the recording process
by playing on Randy’s first album.
Gary’s interests have expanded
a great deal in the past years, including the desire to learn and play
many different styles of music. He especially loves the many hours
he is spending in the studio recording, programming and playing all
of the tracks for his very own album of original tunes for pedal steel
guitar and slide.
There are a number of successful
acts in Gary’s past, including Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Pam Tillis, Wade
Hayes, Daryle Singletary, Rhett Akins,
Faith Hill and Randy Travis. In addition, he has been a
part of such projects as arranging and performing “The John Lennon Song”
in Liverpool, performing “Nowhere Man” with the London Philharmonic Orchestra,
and performing in music videos with Glen Campbell, Randy Travis, Roy Rogers,
Playing Steel Guitar on the Grand Ole Opry for Five Years. Gary also produced all the tracks
on the only Faith Hill Thanksgiving TV special.
In addition to recording music
here at GC Music, Gary Carter plays Steel Guitar, Dobro
and Lap Steel (slide) on other sessions.
